For heavy build docks, we start with the 2×8 frame we reinforce by lag bolting 2x material across the width of the frames. We then carriage bolt the floats through the crossers and finish by wrapping them with 2×10 around the perimeter. With this, we’ve achieved a much stronger frame and float connection. Docks are topped with premium, radius edge 2×6 as the standard decking option, with composite also available. Increased gauge of hardware and/ or additional connection points for anchors can also be added as required (for Georgian Bay or rough/ busy waters). Unloaded docks float approx. 16-18” from the top of the water to the top of the dock, with floats drafting approx. 6”. We typically go to this type (heavy build) of construction once over 10’ wide and/ or 24’ long.
